Being the avid Star Wars fan that I am, I’ve always wondered who the most powerful Jedi and Sith were. After watching the the newest Star Wars films, my fascination with this subject grew even stronger. Of course a couple of characters automatically came to mind but only because of their mainstream appeal and popularity. The Star Wars Universe has grown immensely since the first trilogy and even more so after the second set of movies so if I focused on the few founding characters of the franchise my top ten list wouldn’t be accurate at all. On the other hand, the movie characters had to be powerful in order to be the main protagonists and antagonists of so many films. I mean Luke Skywalker almost single handily returned the Jedi Order to it’s former glory and Darth Sidious orchestrated the near extinction of almost every Jedi in the galaxy. Not to mention Master Yoda’s and Anakin Skywalker’s extremely high midichlorian count. But when searching for the most powerful characters, I wasn’t just focused on how high their midichlorian counts were but also how well they’re able to control The Force. I was also interested in the magnitude of the physical feats they are able to perform by using The Force, how well they are able to mentor their apprentices and how highly regarded and revered these Force users are by their peers. So after researching various Jedi Masters and Sith Lords I’ve created my top ten list of the most powerful Jedi, Sith and any character who possesses a mastery of The Force. So without further ado I’d like to present my findings to you, providing brief descriptions beside the names of the lesser known characters:
- Master Yoda
- Anakin Sywalker/Darth Vader
- Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious
- Luke Skywalker
- Galen Marek/Starkiller (Vader’s secret apprentice in The Force Unleashed video games)
- Darth Raven (the Old Republic Jedi Knight who assisted in defeating the Sith Empire before turning to the dark side)
- Marka Ragnos (The powerful Dark Lord of The Sith during the the first Sith Empire)
- Obi Wan Kenobi
- Jacen Solo/Darth Caedus (The son of Han Solo and Princess Leia who was a courageous Jedi Knight before becoming the Sith Lord known as Darth Caedus)
- Mace Windu
